In the wake of court action against opposition politician Alexander Cummings of the Alternative National Congress (ANC), the ANC-Global Youth Movement is demanding proof of evidence of the “asinine allegations” to the Liberian people.
According to the group, the fact is that there was no “alteration” of documents by Mr. Cummings, instead they said it is the ‘corrupt establishment’ that is fighting back for which they must remain united, strong and stand tall with Mr. Cummings to secure a promising future for the country and young people.
“If we want Liberia to change, we have to continue to challenge and stop the corrupt political establishment.
“We cannot continue the trend of electing the same corrupt people, doing things the same way, and expecting different results because Liberia deserves better. Real change is coming. Mr. Alexander B. Cummings is real change!”
The group said what is being witnessing is the ‘corrupt system”, which has destroyed lives and future of country and people, that is fighting back at the new order led by Mr. Cummings as leader of the ANC.
As a constituent member of the Collaborating Political Party (CPP), the group stated that Mr. Cummings and the ANC are leading the fight to clean up the rotten system of politics and players, which have done business as usual and robbed the people of good governance.
“When he served as Chairperson, Mr. Cummings raised the profile and respectability of the CPP when he led the Collaboration to win seven (7) seats in the National Legislature. He is on record for credible performance, law, and order, speaking truthfully and his character is of envious impeccability.”
The ANC-Global Youth Movement noted that Liberians from across the country and even in the ruling establishment have seen what the future of the country will look like under the leadership of Mr. Cummings and the ANC and admire his commitment to serve as the model for good governance.
The group argued that Liberians were sold a bale of vicious lies that Mr. Cummings “altered and tampered” with governing articles of the CPP. But to date, the accusers, the group said, have failed miserably to produce irrefutable evidence to support their allegations. “This is exactly what corrupt and immoral people do!”
It can be recalled that the Monrovia City Court by and through Judge Jomah Jallah on January 3, 2022 issued a court order for arrest of Cummings.
“You are hereby commanded to arrest the living bodies of Alexander B. Cummings and others to be identified, defendants and forthwith bring them before the Monrovia City Magisterial Court Temple of Justice to answer to the crime of Forgery and Criminal Conspiracy based upon the oath and complaint of the Republic of Liberia by and thru All Liberian Party by and thru its National Chairman, Theodore Momo, the plaintiff in which it is substantially alleged as follows wit,” the writ states.
The ALP, in the writ, is accusing Cummings of being in violation of section 15.70 of the New Penal Law of Liberia. It claims the ANC Political Leader purposely connived, conspired and jointly did alter the framework documents of the four-party CPP, which has as its constituent member parties the immediate former ruling Unity Party (UP), Liberty Party (LP), All Liberian Party (ALP), and the Alternative National Congress (ANC).
The ALP, in the court document, also accuses Cummings of purposely conniving, conspiring, and jointly altering the CPP’s framework documents.
The ALP says Cummings deceived the private prosecutor and the public regarding the content and averments of the document specifically the period a party may exit from the CPP, which the ALP says was unresolved, but that Cummings and his accomplices out of deception, surreptitiously altered same, thereby making it to appear that the party has formally resolved that issue and others appertaining thereto.
The court action was taken by ALP after its action of December 30, 2021 to withdrawal from the CPP.
ALP said its withdrawal from the CPP was predicated upon a comprehensive review of the party’s participation in the CPP, the uncertainties about the political future of the collaboration, the lack of strong will to implement the findings of the CPP FA Investigative Committee’s findings of the alterations of the CPP’s Framework Agreement, among other issues.
