Arcelor Mittal Meets Radical Bassa Group

Arcelor Mittal Liberia today met a radical Bassa group, Bassa United Front for Positive Change at Hotel Buchanan.

The group is requesting that development expected for the county and citizenry should forth come without hindrance.

They want development in education, health, job opportunity, electricity provision amongst others.

The group is headed by Emmanuel Wragboe former Chairman of Gbezohngar Findley’s 2014 campaign.

At today’s meeting Arcelor Mittal was represented by Marcus Wleh, Government Relations Head,Winston P. Daryou, Communication manager, Maurier Hutchins, Eric Swa,Gus Knowlden amongst others.

Emmanuel Wragboe, Du Ben Cleon,  Henry Bobby Gibson, Trokon Kraingar, Eric Darweah, Alphanso Gee Dennis, Nyondoe Williams, Saturday Zoegar etc represented the radical group.

Using the Mineral Development Agreement Article 10 – secs 1&2- construct Health facility & safety,
Article 10, security, Article 11, section 1- Education, Article XIII,L Goods and services; 20% to the affected community, money given to Nimba Community college vi sa vi Bassa where high on the agenda.

Arcelor Mittal argued that they remain supportive of health in the country especially contributions towards COVID19, JFK and other hospitals across Liberia.

The disenchanted group called for the employment of more Bassonians as well as development upliftment amongst the Bassa people amongst others.

At a meeting well attended Sunday, the Bassa people in their numbers called for more opportunities from Bassa people beyond the current meager attention given the county.

The citizens believe most of their citizens are left undone while strangers are given better opportunities.

Tuesday’s discussion have not seen a resolution of the matter as the county remains on edge for what is expected to be a massive protest of nothing is done to solve the issues raised!
