Monrovia, Liberia – Journalist, activist, and Secretary General of the July 17 Protest, Togar Alexander Bealded, has issued a strongly worded public response after coming under criticism from government proxy James Goodday Flomo, escalating an already heated exchange on social media.
In his statement, Bealded accused Flomo of launching what he described as politically motivated attacks in defense of senior government officials especially NPA Boss Sekou Dukuly who imprisoned one protest Executive, Foday Massaquoi Wednesday in Monrovia.
Beyond responding to the criticism, Bealded made a series of allegations regarding Flomo’s reported use of a Liberian service passport while studying in Poland. Bealded questioned whether Flomo was on official government business when the passport was allegedly issued and used, asserting that the matter should be subject to future investigation.
Bealded also alleged that another individual, whom he identified as the son of a prominent Spoon Talk Host Stanton Witherspoon, similarly obtained a service passport and traveled to Poland under questionable circumstances especially as a journalist which he’s not. He claimed both individuals benefited from the arrangement despite not being on official government assignments.
No official response has been issued by the individuals named or the Liberian government at the time of publication.
The activist further alleged that the issuance and use of the service passports could amount to an abuse of official privileges, suggesting that any future investigation into government-issued travel documents should examine the circumstances surrounding the matter.
Concluding his statement, Bealded warned that he intends to release additional information in the coming days, describing his latest comments as “just the tip of the iceberg.” He also urged the Witherspoon to distance himself from Flomo, warning that further revelations could follow.
As of publication, James Goodday Flomo and the other individuals referenced in Bealded’s statement had not publicly responded to the allegations. Likewise, no official investigation has been announced regarding the claims.
