Days after his resignation from ANC and CPP for what he called fraudulent primaries in Nimba County, Independent candidate, Taa Wongbe has met with one of the core leaders of the CPP, Amb. Joseph Boakai.
Details of the meeting are unknown but Taa posted on his social media feed ‘Met with my uncle Joe today…it was a very good impromptu meeting. Many people do not know that my mother is from Lofa – Vezala to be exact. It was good discussing our Lofa roots and how to Moving Liberia Forward! #MovingNimbaForward #MovingLiberiaForward.’
Taa has reportedly had very bitter experiences with Benoni Urey, leader of the ALP who according to him breached primary agreements as a political leader by visiting Nimba, canvassing against him and changing his entire county structure ahead of the primary.
Hon. Urey is yet to react to the claims though the ALP, UP and LP agreed following electoral altercations that Madam Edith Gongloe Weh is the CPP candidate for Nimba.
Taa Wongbe and team had called for rerun of the process which saw fights, death threats and huge destabilization before the election but the cliams were rejected and the election proceeded with Madam Weh announced as winner.
Back in Monrovia, the ANC pioneer resigned from his party, while ANC leader rejected the Nimba results, calling it lacking every semblance of a free, fair and transparent process.
Taa later announced he will be a candidate after registering as independent for the December 8 polls creating dark clouds over the future of the Collaborating Political Parties (CPP).
How other constituent members of the CPP view the Boakai-Taa meeting in the wake of all going on is anyone’s guess.
Political pundits believe the action of the former VP sends the wrong signal while some think it remains his nature to always reconcile no matter what!
