Catholic run radio journalist killed in Gbarnga

Journalist Chris David of Catholic run Radio Paraclete 93.7 in Gbarnga died mysteriously Friday creating a scene from several citizens who are calling for a prompt investigation.

Friends of Chris said he was found dead with gun wounds on his body. His body was thrown in a river on the outskirts of town.

Also for survival, Chris reportedly ran motorbike after work hours and was a very decent and hard working journalist.

The late Chris also worked for Radio Kakata, Radio Joy Africa and other outlets in Kakata Margibi County before joining the Catholic run outlet in March of 2020.

He also studied counselling at Dayspring Bible College.

The death of Chris has sparked tension in Gbarnga with motorcyclists threatening to get on the rampage.

Such gruesome murder of a Liberian journalist sparked an immediate response from the Society of Liberian Journalists (SLJ).

On its Facebook page the group said ‘We are closely monitoring this situation and will get engaged with the County Authorities of Bong County. We need a speedy investigation and the perpetrators brought to book. This is very concerning!’

They continued ‘We will put out an official statement soon!’
