The Congress for Democratic Change (CDC) directly accuses Inspector General Gregory Coleman of responsibility for what the Party considers a deliberate assassination attempt against STAND Lead Campaigner Mulbah K. Morlu Jr.
“The placement of an armed operative inside a peaceful STAND protest cannot be dismissed as coincidence, poor judgment, or an isolated security failure. The CDC’s position is clear: the armed criminal appeared to be working for a parallel death squad sponsored by the cocaine cartel under the authority of Gregory Coleman, creating a direct and calculated threat to the life of Mulbah Morlu and other peaceful citizens,” the party said in a statement.
Saturday’s statement continues “After the armed criminal was identified and disarmed, Inspector General Coleman attempted to reverse his previous accusation that STAND distributed arms. Instead of explaining why his criminal entered a peaceful protest with a loaded weapon, Coleman deployed men dressed in combat riot police gear to Morlu’s residence and ordered his arrest after Morku had voluntarily surrendered to the Court Sheriff.”
The CDC regards this sequence of events as evidence of a coordinated assassination operation—not legitimate law enforcement. Gregory Coleman cannot plant an armed criminal inside a peaceful political protest, falsely accuse the victims, arrest the intended target, and then escape personal responsibility.
This is not the first time Gregory Coleman have attempted to assassinate an opposition leader. On Tuesday, March 31, 2026 in Wrotto Town, Gregory Coleman attempted similar assassination on Representative Frank lSaah Foko Jr.
That incident, together with the armed infiltration of the STAND protest, reveals a dangerous pattern of Coleman’s assassination attempt against percieved opposition figures.
The CDC holds Inspector General Gregory Coleman personally responsible for these actions and for any harm physically or bodily that comes to Mulbah K. Morlu while he remains in state custody. The Party further maintains that Coleman is not acting independently. He is carrying out the political instructions of the Boakai-Koung regime and operating with its full knowledge, authority, and protection.
The CDC demands the immediate release and protection of Mulbah K. Morlu, an independent investigation into the armed criminal planted inside the STAND protest, and immediate dismissal of Gregory Coleman and every official who authorized or supported this operation.
The CDC equally condemns the ongoing police violence against peaceful citizens around the Battery Factory community along the Japan Freeway. The brutal use of force against unarmed civilians further demonstrates a growing culture of police blood letting and mayhem against peaceful citizens that has no place in a constitutional democracy.
Even more troubling is the stark contrast between the Government’s brutality against peaceful protesters and opposition leaders while the Liberian people continue to demand decisive action against cocaine dealers, including the unresolved US$19 million drug scandal.
The CDC will not remain silent while state security institutions are used to threaten lives, suppress peaceful dissent, and criminalize political opposition. CDC will intervene if circumstances compel in defense of constitutional governance.
“An armed criminal operative inside a peaceful protest is not law enforcement. It is a deadly provocation. The arrest of the intended victim does not erase the crime—it exposes the assassination attempt,” the statement signed by Atty Janga A. Kowo concluded.
