Alexander B. Cummings has strongly refuted reports suggesting that his office made an appointment for a Chief of Staff position, clarifying that no such appointment was made.
In a firm statement issued following growing public speculation and political debate, the Alternative National Congress (ANC) political leader emphasized that attorney Cllr. Moriah Yeakula remains a respected and valued member of the party and continues to serve as ANC Vice Chair for Legal Affairs.
Cummings described Yeakula as “fearlessly loyal” both to him and to the ANC, while condemning what he characterized as vicious personal attacks against her. According to him, Yeakula has come under increasing criticism because of her unwavering support for his leadership at a time when, he suggested, many others have chosen to remain silent publicly.
“We will not let the attackers get away with that,” Cummings declared, stressing that Yeakula’s integrity, professional reputation, and commitment to national development cannot be undermined by political propaganda or smear campaigns.
The ANC leader also pushed back against attempts to target Yeakula’s family and personal life, insisting that such matters should never be weaponized in political discourse.
“Moriah has built a solid reputation for herself, backed by her impeccable character and no amount of smear campaign can change that,” he stated.
Cummings further praised Yeakula as a disciplined team player who has consistently handled internal disagreements privately while remaining committed to the party’s broader objective of attaining state power to improve the lives of Liberians.
He noted that although the two may not always agree internally, Yeakula has remained professional and loyal to the collective vision of the ANC.
Describing her as an asset to nation-building, women’s rights, and the empowerment of women and girls, Cummings vowed to continue supporting and defending her against what he termed a “crashing political propaganda machinery.”
He concluded the statement with a strong warning to critics, declaring: “Enough is enough.”
