The Mayor of Monrovia, Jefferson Koijee is expected to address scores of journalists today at a media gathering in FishTown, Rivergee County.
The Mayor of Monrovia City Government is expected to focus on the global theme ‘Journalism under Digital Siege.’
Every year on 3rd May, the world celebrates Press Freedom Day to reflect on issues of press freedom and professional ethics.
World Press Freedom Day is a day of support for media which are targets for the restraint, or abolition, of press freedom. It is also a day of remembrance for those journalists who lost their lives in the pursuit of a story.
Tuesday’s celebration in Rivergee County is expected to see journalists parade through the principal streets of FishTown while a soccer encounter is expected to follow after the official indoor ceremony at the FishTown City Hall.
Earlier Monday, Mayor Koijee addressed hundreds of citizens of Rivergee expressing government’s commitment to the people of the Southeast and that his presence meant the government continues to create room for engagement.
He said roads and infrastructural development remain a priority of the government and the people especially those in the Southeast are on the priority list.
