“BLOODSHED WILL NOT SILENCE THE PEOPLE. JULY 17 IS IRREVERSIBLE” Chairman Mulbah K. Morlu
Under allegations of collusion with alleged cocaine traffickers, the Gregory Coleman-led Liberia National Police has violently attacked members of STAND & its protest coalition’s street-publicity team and unlawfully obstructed our July 17 awareness truck. The attack occurred few minutes ago around the JR Gas Station area, adjacent the former CDC Headquarters, where police forcibly stopped the truck as it was returning to park, brutally assaulted peaceful mobilizers, and continue to chase them through swamps & communities across Congo Town.
This unprovoked violence against unarmed citizens is unacceptable. We call on the international community, diplomatic missions, and human rights partners to take immediate notice of this blatant abuse. We have instructed all our supporters to remain calm, disciplined, and peaceful despite this brutality.
A government that promises to protect peaceful protesters but is already talking violence raises serious questions about its agenda. Today’s Justice Ministry meeting only deepens suspicions that the “big fish” are still being protected.
Nevetheless, we remain unbowed: no amount of state-sponsored violence, intimidation, or bloodshed will stop the July 17 “No to Drugs” peaceful protest. We will never surrender to fear—not even in the face of death. We are prepared to pay whatever price is necessary to confront what we describe as the Boakai-led drug crisis and demand accountability, no matter the cost.
July 17 is irreversible. The people will not retreat.
This might be our ‘First blood’ in JNB’s calculated bloodshed of peaceful protesters, but we are ready to remain standing in course to martyrdom!
We’ve counted the cost and are ready, but no matter what, the cocaine cartel will not win.
