Joseph Goffa, Liberty Party’s Youth Wing Chair has been pronounced dead at the Liberian Government Hospital in Buchanan after a tragic motorcycle accident on Tubman Street in Buchanan Thursday, National Thanksgiving Day.
Another person reportedly rider of another bike also died when both collided due to what was reported as excessive speeding.
The Office of Senator Nyonblee Karnga-Lawrence, Political Leader of the Liberty Party later released a statement confirming his death.
The release said the Senator and LP remain devastated and saddened by the unfortunate death of one of its staffs, Joseph W. Goffa, Chairman, Liberty Party Gallant Youth Wing, Grand Bassa County. Mr. Goffa the party says was a loyal and devoted party ideologue who offered his life and youthful exuberance to the service of the Liberty Party in Grand Bassa County.
The statement continued ‘It is with profound grief that we announce his passing and inform the public that he died in a tragic motorcycle accident that occurred last evening at the Fair Ground Junction in Buchanan City. The accident also resulted to the death of another fellow yet to be identified.’
The LP political leader has at the same time instructed all campaign related activities halted and the family of the bereaved consoled.
Goffa was a firebrand party youth leader who would go any length to defend his party, propagate its messages, something he did with all vigor.
His death ahead of a crucial senatorial election which he played a pivotal role is a very big blow to the Liberty Party’s grassroots movement.
LP has been frantically combining efforts to resuscitate its party after the devastating lost of its founder and political leader, Charles Walker Brumskine.
With its stronghold being Grand Bassa, the current leader of the party and senatorial candidate Nyonblee Karnga Lawrence is being heavily challenged by CDC Gbezohngar Findley and two Independents Rep. Vincent Willie and Magdalene Harris.
The county is completely devastated by the passing as several young people flood social media to express their regrets for the passing of a youthful party faithful.
