Mayor Koijee apologizes for securities action, launches full scale investigation

In the late hours of Thursday, Monrovia City Corporation (MCC) securities assigned at the home of Monrovia City Mayor, Jefferson Koijee brutalized two men; one believed to be the owner of online television, Vision TV Bill Diggs.

The two men had reportedly parked before the home of the lawmaker, requested to remove the car by securities and a scuffle ensued.

MCC securities used batons and other accessories which left bodily harm on the men. Bill was later taken to hospital and a formal complaint filed at Airfield Police depot.

In a late evening Facebook post, the Mayor said ‘We sincerely regret Thursday’s incident at our residence where two #Liberian citizens were manhandled by #Monrovia City Corporation’s securities assigned at our home while we were out. We continue to have closed ties with all our #citizens and will at no time sanction such acts of incivility, no matter the circumstances.’

He at the same time promised to reach out to the victim ‘We will reach out to Bill personally and express our regrets.’

The Monrovia City Mayor immediately launched an investigation in the same social media post ‘We have at the same time launched a full scale #investigation into circumstances that led to the action and will hold the perpetrators accountable!’

‘The public can be assured, we will continue to serve you responsibly in the exercise of our duties for this great #city. Please accept the compliments of our highest esteem and consideration,’ he concluded.

Bill Diggs besides running an online television is an employee of LPRC and resident of Matadi same district as the Mayor.
