The management of the National Port Authority (NPA) has met in audience, a high powered US Coast Guard Port Facility Security Experts at the Freeport of Monrovia.
The US Coast Guard visiting delegation’s meeting with the NPA management is afoot of this year’s assessment mission.
They are in country at the time Liberia is placed on the US Coast Guard White list.
As part of their mission, the Port Security Experts will review tight measures currently being enforced by the NPA’s Management at Liberia’s main seaports consistent with the International Ship and Port Security Regime (ISPS).
NPA Managing Director Bill Twehway, Deputy for Administration Diana Nebo along with top executives were enthusiastic about new rating for the ports in line with the ISPS regime as the US Guard concludes her assessment mission.
In his briefing with the US Guard Security Experts, MD Twehway said the NPA management has already developed a five year Comprehensive Port Facility Security Plan with the aid of a Regional Security Officer (RSO) to ensure straight compliance in keeping ISPS enforcement.
The NPA boss also informed the US Coast Guard team about improved lighting, perimeter fencing and Security Operations at major facilities within the Freeport: (BMC and LMC docks).
MD Twehway welcomed the delegation with gratitude on behalf of NPA family and renewed his commitment to work with the Designated Authority – Maritime aimed at maintaining all provisions and plans to further enhanced access control.
Prior to the US Coast Guard visit at the NPA headquarters, the team also concluded its assessment mission at the Port of Buchanan with fresh reports filtering in that the delegation expressed their impression over the Access control system and other ISPS measures at that port.
