Police Releases Arrest Order For Mo Ali

The Liberia National Police (LNP) has announced the release of an arrest order for Mo Ali, Secretary General, Unity Party (UP).

Ali was expected to honor an invitation from the police on Friday, March 19, 2021 for a Facebook post, for which the exiled Chairman of the Council of Patriots (COP), Henry P. Costa rallied all of those he referred to militants as well as supporters and well-wishers to accompany the opposition party stalwart there.

According to police spokesman H. Moses Carter, the invitation offered to the Unity Party Secretary General was also in relationship to the arson incidence at the headquarters of the National Elections Commission (NEC) and what he referred as a threatening social media post against Commissioners of the NEC.

But after Ali failed to honor the invite on grounds that he was ill and chose to rather send his lawyer, police spokesman Carter declared Ali a wanted man for his failure to respond to the call.

In the social media post for which Ali was invited for, he wrote: “Dear National Elections Commission (NEC), We understand the plot. But try it and you will see what’s gonna be the end result.”

Meanwhile, UP Chairman Amin Modad also took to social media to personally and on behalf of the Unity Party condemn the recent arson attacks at the headquarters of the NEC and that of the home of Associate Justice Joseph Nagbe.

He said: “We are deeply concerned by this ‘new form’ of threat to peace and security and hereby call on the authorities to conduct a swift, judicious, and impartial investigation so that the culprits can be apprehended and held accountable.”

The UP Chairman went on to state that his party believes in the rule of law and innate right of everyone to coexist peacefully and fearlessly despite “our differences.
