Ali bin Hassan al-Hammadi, Secretary-General of Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS), has met Minister Counselor Ali Sylla, Chargé d’affaires at the Embassy of the Republic of Liberia in Doha.
The meeting was attended by Faisal Mohamed al-Emadi, Executive Director of Relief and International Development Division, and Dr. Fawzi Oussedik, Head of International Relations and International Humanitarian Law (IHL).
Talks were held about potential contributions by QRCS to meeting the humanitarian needs of vulnerable people in Liberia, especially in light of the impact of the Coronavirus pandemic.
They highlighted the need for vaccinations, personal protective equipment (PPE), and ambulances, in order to support the health authorities in their efforts to protect the Liberian people against the pandemic.
Al-Hammadi referred to the recent announcement by QRCS of a global large-scale campaign to provide vaccines for a large number of countries, in cooperation with the World Health Organization (WHO).
He stressed the good relations with the President and Secretary-General of the Liberian Red Cross Society, which can be built on to draft a memorandum of understanding (MoU) as a legal basis for bilateral cooperation in the future.
