At Least seven persons are reported dead in Rivercess County following a mudslide while doing illicit mining.
There are reports of others being trapped under the rubble while some fled for their lives.
Monday’s incident occurred in a place called Chio Town on the outskirts of Charlie Township.
Illicit mining has taken over several parts of gold rich Liberia becoming detrimental to many.
Lands and Mine Boss, Wilmot Paye in a speech while taking over the Ministry laid serious emphasis on this and promised to curb the situation.
He said he is aware that the Mining sector is key to revenue generation and will continue to engage actors in making the sector viable while he serves.
Police is said to have advanced to the site and bodies are being retrieved.
