The National Port Authority says it lost one of its trucks Saturday to fire incident in the port.
According to a statement released by the port management, there was no casualty and activities at the port have returned to normal.
The incident according to the management happened while a routine security and protocol check was ongoing against smoking within the port facility.
A driver on duty who was smoking had to hurriedly throw his lighted cigarette away in an attempt not to be booked which led to a major disaster.
‘Management will therefore take the appropriate actions against the driver of the truck who is reported to have thrown lighted cigarette nut into his truck in an attempt to hide from a routine security check and protocol against smoking and other port-security search,’ the statement said.
