The US Embassy near Monrovia has announced huge consignment of Johnson and Johnson COVID vaccine to Liberia.
Making the pronouncement Sunday in Monrovia, the Embassy said ‘We are proud to welcome the July 25 arrival of more than 300,000 single-shot Johnson & Johnson vaccines from the United States via COVAX in Liberia!’
The vaccines landed at Roberts International Airport the statement said Sunday.
GheyTThey continued ‘ The donated vaccines are part of the global effort by the United States to fight the COVID-19 pandemic and the U.S. pledge to provide at least 25 million of 80 million doses to Africa.’
“We are proud to continue working together with the Liberian Government, the private sector, and civil society to do everything we can to mitigate the pandemic’s high toll on life, livelihoods, and social impacts,” remarked Ambassador Michael McCarthy.
The Ambassador at the same time encouraged all to get vaccinated as he did in an effort to be able to fight the virus as being done by many.
The new wave of COVID has been seriously hitting the country that is already rocked by poor health care.
Health Minister Wilimehna Jallah was also at the arrival site for the new Johnson and Johnson vaccine and expressed happiness over the arrival of what would be a new phenomenon in the combat of the virus.
