Yekeh Kolubah Backtracks On ANC Membership

Representative Yekeh Kolubah of Electoral District Number 10 in Montserrado County has backtracked on the suspension of his membership from his political party.

In his communiocation addressed to the Chairman of the opposition Alternative National Congress (ANC) on Wednesday, February 2, 2022, the controversial lawmaker expressed his love for the party from the depth of his heart. According to him, he felt the pain in his heart during his stay away since he suspended his membership for things he felt needed to be corrected.

“However, I believe being out does not solve problems, but your persistent strive in engagement in solving problem is the best way out.”

While the lawmaker does not see the problem of bickering and the back biting being over, Representative Kolubah believes he must persistently continue the in-house engagements because he has a mission to accomplish. He said that mission is to attain state power through a democratic means as the signs are on the wall to be read and comprehended.

In September 2021, the Representative of Montserrado County District #10 also resigned from the Council of Patriot (COP), citing unilateral decisions within the group.

COP was established in April 2019 as a pro-democracy activism grassroots movement to hold the government of Liberia accountable to the Liberian people; and demand social and economic justice for all through peaceful, non-violent constructive agitation. COP is the mixture of individuals mostly from the leading opposition Collaborating Political Parties (CPP).

Led by its chairman Henry Costa, COP has staged several protests including the famous “June 7 protest” against the George Weah-led government. Representative Kolubah, while then an executive member of COP, was part of many of the protests staged by the group. Despite his involvement, the Montserrado County District #10 Representative stated in his resignation letter that the leadership of COP was shifted from national issues to issues of personal gains. He said COP decisions taken were done unilaterally.
