Monrovia, Liberia – September 2, 2025 – The Liberia National Police (LNP) has announced the arrest of Amos K. Koffa, a former Maintenance Department Supervisor at the Capitol Building, who had been on the run for months in connection with the December 18, 2024 arson attack on the Capitol.
According to police sources, Koffa fled Liberia on April 6, 2025, using the alias “Roland King” after being charged in absentia for his alleged role in the incident. Intelligence gathered by the LNP, in coordination with the Ghana Police Service and INTERPOL, revealed that he had relocated to Ghana, where he narrowly evaded capture during a joint operation in July 2025.
Authorities say that sustained surveillance and cross-border collaboration eventually paid off when Koffa was apprehended on September 1, 2025, at the Loguatuo Border. The arrest was carried out by joint security forces in a coordinated operation.
Police Spokesperson DCP Cecelia G. Clarke confirmed that Koffa is currently in custody at Police Headquarters in Monrovia. “The suspect will be forwarded to court at the appropriate time to face formal legal proceedings,” Clarke stated.
The LNP reaffirmed its commitment to pursuing all individuals linked to the arson case, emphasizing that justice will be served. The Capitol Building attack in 2024 shocked the nation and raised serious concerns about security at Liberia’s seat of power.
