Monrovia, Liberia — Togar Alexander Bealded has condemned the manhandling of activist Foday N. Massaquoi by officers of the Liberian National Police during a peaceful student protest in Monrovia.
In a statement, Bealded described the incident as “deeply concerning,” emphasizing that peaceful assembly and freedom of expression are fundamental democratic rights that must be protected.
He warned that such actions signal a troubling pattern and risk undermining public trust in state institutions.
Bealded called on the leadership of the Liberian National Police, including Inspector General Gregory O.W. Coleman, to ensure accountability and uphold professionalism in the handling of public demonstrations.
He called on the International Committee to bring to book perpetrators of this heinous act!
Authorities have not yet issued an official response regarding the incident.
The protest, organized by students and youth activists, was aimed at drawing attention to governance and socio-economic concerns in the country.
