Monrovia – A routine security check at the Monrovia Central Prison (MCP) on Monday, December 8, 2025, swiftly turned into a troubling scene after two young Liberian women were arrested for allegedly attempting to smuggle a substance believed to be kush into the facility.
The suspects, Secret Kamara, 25 years old, and Christina Robert, 19 years old, both residents of Sinkor, had arrived as visitors but were intercepted when prison officers discovered the suspected drugs carefully hidden among their personal items.
During preliminary questioning, Christina told investigators that the substance had been handed to her by her friend, Secret, emphasizing that it was her first visit to the prison.
Secret, however, firmly denied involvement, insisting that Christina was visiting a different inmate and may have acted on her own.
The confiscated substance has been turned over to the appropriate authorities as the investigation continues.
Monrovia Central Prison (MCP) management, in a brief statement, reassured the public of its unwavering commitment to ensuring a drug free and secure correctional environment, emphasizing that every individual entering the compound will continue to undergo strict inspection without exception.
