A resident of Grand Bassa County, Prince Garkpee, has sparked public debate following a statement posted on his official Facebook page, questioning the management and ownership of a car wash facility constructed in the Benson River Community, Lower Hardlandsville.
In his post, Prince Garkpee alleged that the car wash constructed under the authority of Hon. Nyonblee Karnga Lawrence, Senate Pro-Tempore of the Republic of Liberia has allegedly been turned into a family enterprise.
He claimed that Madam Kleenweeh Karnga, a niece of the Senate Pro-Tempore, is currently managing the facility. According to Prince Garkpee, Madam Kleenweeh Karnga is employed by Arcelor Mittal Liberia (AML), where she is reportedly earning over US$1,000, while also managing the car wash.
He questioned why someone holding a well paying position with a major concession company would also be overseeing a project allegedly built with public funds. Prince Garkpee further mentioned that this act is a misappropriation of government resources and raises serious concerns of corruption and abuse of public trust.
As a professional and responsible media institution, Build FM is making every effort to obtain clarification from Hon. Nyonblee Karnga Lawrence and/or Madam Kleenweeh Karnga to respond to these allegations and provide their side of the story in the interest of fairness and accountability.
