Monrovia, Liberia — January 2026
A senior official of Liberia’s National Security Agency (NSA), Peter Bonn Jallah, has been dismissed from his position following serious allegations of gang rape with two others involving a minor, according to information from security and government sources.
Jallah, who served as a special assistant within the NSA, was initially suspended after allegations surfaced linking him to the sexual assault of a 15-year-old boy in Monrovia. The suspension was intended to allow law-enforcement authorities to conduct an unhindered investigation.
Following preliminary findings and mounting public pressure, authorities later took the decision to formally dismiss Jallah from service, signaling a tougher stance by the government amid growing concerns over accountability within Liberia’s security institutions.
According to family members of the alleged victim, the incident was reported to the Liberia National Police (LNP), after which an investigation was launched. The victim was reportedly taken for medical treatment, while statements were collected as part of the probe. Police authorities have not yet released a detailed public briefing on the status of the case.
His dismissal was approved at the highest administrative level of the security agency.
The case has sparked widespread public outrage, particularly on social media, with civil-society organizations and child-rights advocates like Togar Alexander Bealded, Titus Pakalah and others calling for full transparency, prosecution where warranted, and justice for the victim, regardless of the suspect’s status or institutional affiliation.
Legal experts caution that while the allegations are grave, the accused remains presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law, in keeping with Liberia’s legal standards.
The incident adds to ongoing national conversations about sexual violence, abuse of power, and the protection of minors, especially within institutions entrusted with public safety and national security.
Recently another government official, Bryant McGill also reportedly raped a 14 year old girl but investigations have been scanty with the alleged perpetrator walking free.
Investigations are ongoing.
