June 8, 2025 – The Grand Bassa University Student Union Veteran Association (GBUSUVA) has officially announced the election of a new Board of Advisors following a majority vote of its Executive Committee, in keeping with Article 10, Section 2 of the GBUSUVA Constitution.
The newly elected Board will serve a three-year term and is tasked with advising and supporting the Association’s leadership and general membership on governance, strategy, and institutional direction.
In a statement released by the Majority Executive Committee on June 7, 2025, the body confirmed the appointment of eight distinguished individuals to the Board. Leading the new team is Amos Sawmadal, who will serve as Chairman. He will be supported by Emma Nippay Barclay as Co-Chair and Naomi Janjaymar Nagbe as Secretary, the latter having previously served as Acting Chair of the Executive Committee.

• Togar Alexander Bealded
• Thomas O. D. Roberts
• Grace Nyantee
• Muah Garjay
• Washington Toe
The Majority EC emphasized the experience and dedication of the newly appointed members, noting that their collective leadership is expected to enhance the institutional strength and service delivery of GBUSUVA.
“The individuals elected have demonstrated exceptional commitment, leadership, and dedication to the values and mission of GBUSUVA,” the statement noted. “Their service on the Board is expected to strengthen institutional governance, promote strategic planning, and provide critical advisory support to the leadership and general body of the Association.”
Togar Alexander Bealded, a well-regarded student leader and member of the new Board, welcomed the appointment and pledged to uphold the principles and goals of GBUSUVA throughout the Board’s term.
Chairman-elect Amos Sawmadal also expressed gratitude for the trust placed in him by the EC. “This is not just an honor but a call to serve our community with integrity and vision,” he said. “Together with my fellow Board members, we intend to steer GBUSUVA toward greater cohesion, accountability, and advocacy.”
The statement concluded with a call for unity and cooperation from all members of the Association, urging them to support the new Board in fulfilling its mandate over the next three years.
This new leadership marks a pivotal step in GBUSUVA’s continued efforts to institutionalize effective governance and expand its role as a leading student body serving Grand Bassa County and beyond.
