Monrovia, Liberia – Political tension is heightening as the opposition Congress for Democratic Change (CDC) releases another batch of alleged financial documents this time pointing to a L$21.8 million payment reportedly issued by the Liberia Anti-Corruption Commission (LACC) to a single individual.
According to BUILD FM LIVE’s initial report, the payment was made to Rahoff Solomon, a former EcoBank staffer who now serves as Deputy Chief of Investigation and Operations at the LACC.
The purpose of the money remains unclear.
Koijee Questions Timing and Transparency
CDC Secretary General Jefferson Tamba Koijee described the alleged disbursement as further evidence of financial misconduct under the Unity Party-led government, claiming the funds may be connected to preparations for the party’s December 6 mobilization rally.
Koijee criticized the LACC for what he calls a “betrayal of its anti-corruption mandate.”
“Imagine that: the very body created to fight corruption is caught in the act of aiding it,” he stated.
“Over 1.3 million U.S. dollars has already been disbursed under this deceptive showmanship project while the nation sinks deeper into unemployment and hardship.”
Koijee also questioned the Commission’s priorities, arguing that the LACC has not adequately addressed concerns surrounding the alleged US$10 million Presidential Villa project in Foya.
LACC Silent on New Allegation
The LACC has not yet provided a public explanation for the reported LRD 21.8 million transaction.
The Commission previously dismissed Koijee’s earlier claims as politically motivated, but the CDC insists the documents it has released are authentic and warrant independent scrutiny.
This is the second financial disclosure made by Koijee within days, forming part of what he describes as a “series of corruption revelations.”
Rising Suspicion as UP Rally Nears
With the Unity Party rally expected on December 6, Koijee questioned why multiple individuals are allegedly receiving unusually large sums around the same period.
“Why all of a sudden, just on the heels of a UP rally, individuals are receiving such huge chunks of money here and there?” he asked.
He called on Liberians—especially the youth—to remain vigilant, arguing that “the truth cannot be silenced.”
Public Awaits Clarification
The allegations have sparked widespread conversation on social media and radio talk shows, with many Liberians calling for:
- Transparency from the LACC
- A clear explanation for the LRD 21.8M payment
- Accountability from institutions handling public funds
As the political season intensifies, observers note that this controversy may shape public opinion and further pressure the government to address concerns of financial mismanagement.
