The engagements are both bilateral and multilateral and involve the Mano River Union (MRU) and the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), and are supporting a peaceful resolution.

The GOL notes that a High-level Delegation will be dispatched to the Republic of Guinea within the next 24 hours to engage in dialogue with the Guinean authorities as a continuation of the recent Guinea-Liberia dialogue held at the border with the high level inter-ministerial delegation.

The National Security Council of the Liberian Government, under the leadership of H.E. President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, Sr., has been meeting regularly, including on Wednesday, 11 March 2026, when the Council briefed the leadership of both houses of the National Legislature on the unfolding situation at the border.

The Government of Liberia also reiterates its call to citizens, particularly those residing in the border communities, to remain calm, peaceful, and law-abiding, as well as to cooperate with members of the joint security deployed in Foya, Lofa County, to maintain the peace and avoid the escalation of the current situation.

The GOL is actively investigating a shooting incident at the border on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, that left a Liberian citizen injured. The injured citizen is in stable condition and responding to treatment. The circumstances surrounding the shooting are being investigated by members of the joint security on both sides.

The Government reaffirms its commitment to resolving the current situation at the border through peaceful dialogue, diplomatic engagement, and peacebuilding, and calls on the general public to be mindful of the spread of negative and false information that could inflame the situation and undermine peace and national security.
